Dog Classes and Training Programs
If you are the proud owner of a new pup, we recommend our Puppy Program. If your dog is eighteen weeks or older, Jim offers basic obedience training a couple of different ways. You can come to our kennel for private classes or you can leave your dog with us for a three week in-kennel program.
By enrolling in this program, you will have a 'puppy coach' to help and support you during the first few weeks of pet ownership, an important learning time for both you and your pup. Jim will provide answers to questions on everything from lead breaking to crate training. You'll also learn how to deal with puppy behaviors before they become a problem and how to gently introduce basic obedience exercises. The fee for our Puppy Program is $100.00 which includes phone consultations and one puppy class. Call for details.
Basic Obedience class
Jim offers private basic obedience classes for K-9s at our facility in Berea. Each class will cover two or more basic obedience commands. You will be given hands on instruction in how to execute the commands and then you will go home and practice with your dog. How many classes you will need depends upon how much time you spend at home on a daily basis practicing the basic obedience commands. You may also call Jim at any time during the training period to receive needed support and guidance by phone.
If you choose this option, your dog should be at least eighteen weeks old. During the three week intensive, Jim will teach your pet all of the basic obedience commands. By working with your dog several times a day, he is able to maximize your pet's potential in the shortest amount of time. During these daily sessions, your dog will receive training, play time and exercise. Because Jim accepts only a limited number of dogs for training at any one time, each dog receives the amount of personal care and attention necessary for a successful training experience.
After the initial training period, you and other family members will return for up to six follow-up classes. A critical part of your dog's training, these sessions are designed to teach you how to handle your dog and to ensure that you understand and can properly execute all of the commands. Jim will continue to work with you until you have established a successful working relationship with your pet.The key to successful obedience training is your commitment and willingness to spend time every day working and playing with your dog.
